The 2007 Best Welsh Speciality award winner Chef on the Run Foods from Hay on Wye went one better this year, being named UK Producer of the Year 2008.
From the award-winning Old Stables Tea Rooms chef Mike Carnell and his wife Rachel serve homemade meals, freshly made cakes and desserts and also sell their delicious preserves which are all made by hand in small batches.
There was extra reason for the multi award-winning company to celebrate too as it picked up a record breaking six Gold awards with their Seville Marmalade (2 star Gold, Beetroot & Ginger Chutney (1 star Gold), Welsh Leek Chutney (1 star Gold, Quince Jelly (1 star Gold), Pear & Rose Scented Syrup (1 star gold), and WOW - Whisky, Orange & Walnut Marmalade (1 star gold).
"We are over the moon, it was totally unexpected," said Mike Carnell. "We won the award for our consistency of standards, and it will be brilliant for the business - we've already had orders coming in thick and fast for our Gold star chutneys."
